The platoon that the artist was part of was ran by a man who used a spoon for discipline. He would mostly use the spoon and hit the butt, but sometimes he would use the spoon on other places such as the hands. In this painting the soldier playing the guitar is the artist, his hands were beat because the general who ran the platoon knew he used a paintbrush and knew he loved to play the guitar. As a mockery in this painting the general himself is without pants in embarrassment as he goes after another platoon member who spent some time with a lady. The eye of the KGB on his hand sees everything.
