This is a painting about the Great Russian poet Yesenin, who is modestly called the Christian poet. He was born in a small village called Constantinovo, and in his youth left to Sankt Petersburg, where he met another poet called Klooeva. Together they formed a union and wrote some of the most famous poems in history. Not understanding the impact of what the new regime of 1917 would do to his writing and creativity, he continued to write however was killed when he was 32 years old by the soviet communists. On this painting you see Yesenin sitting against a tree desperately grabbing for his muse, who has been burned and is now charred by the seagull representing Checkov. The cart riding away in the air is a representation of this poet’s youth, marked by the red soviet flag.
